In this centenary year of the start of World War I, Rye & District Poppy Appeal has so far collected £10,500 for the Royal British Legion, writes Elizabeth Kimber, local appeal organiser. Thank you to members, family and friends of the Rye RBL and the Rye Sea Cadets who acted as distributors and collectors and the shops and businesses of Rye, Rye Harbour, Camber, Northiam, Playden and Iden, all of whom unfailingly give their support. This collection will go to today’s former servicemen and women and their families who require welfare assistance. The generosity shown by all donors will be much appreciated. Thank you.
