The Rye Community Charity Shop (RCCS) is now ready to invite community groups to apply for funding support from their “profit generated” funding stream. The shop is run solely by volunteers and relies totally on donations from local people supporting them.

Rye and District Day Centre – seated exercise supported by funding from RCCS.

If you are a local charity or community group, needing financial support, and can prove your benefit to the community, then you could be eligible to apply for up to £1,000 funding to support your cause. In the last year several groups have been successful, including Ferry Road Pre-School, Rye Scouts, Music Well, and Rye and District Community Transport.

Rye and District Day Centre, which provides help and social interaction to elderly people living in Rye and surrounding area, was one of the many groups to be awarded funding. Dave Pellen from the centre said: “The Rye charity shop funding award was very much appreciated as the exercise class it provides is such an important element of the day centre and provides a huge benefit to the members”.

Application forms are now available at Rye Community Charity Shop, 7 Cinque Ports Street, and the deadline for submissions is Friday July 3. Call in and speak to one of the volunteers, pick up an application form….and don’t forget to drop in any donations for sale which will help to generate even more funding for the future.
