Rother District Council (RDC) has designated three car parks across the district as long-stay car parks, with new lower daily charges announced.

The Gibbet Marsh car park in Rye, and Bexhill’s Wainwright Road car park, now offer parking for £2 per day, down from £5, providing both residents and visitors affordable all-day parking options. Lower Market car park in Battle will charge £3 daily, reflecting its closer proximity to Battle town centre.

Commenting on the new price structure, Councillor Christine Bayliss, portfolio holder for economic development and regeneration at RDC, said: “Changing these three car parks to long stay facilities will help support our local businesses by providing much needed affordable all-day parking for those working and visiting Rye, Battle and Bexhill.”

Nominated parking permits, which allow the holder to park in a named car park for 12 months, are available for all three car parks.  The cost of a nominated parking permit for Gibbet Marsh is £323 – less than £1 per day.
