Rye MP, Amber Rudd visited the Rye Community Shop in Cinque Ports Street on Friday May 3. Each year the shop provides grants for local projects whose organisers have applied for assistance. Amber Rudd, presented each project representative with a cheque and we heard from them a little of how this contribution would help with a variety of different plans.

The Community Shop chairman, Kate Sims, told us how grateful she is for all the donations from the community but said a special thank-you must go to the volunteers who give their time to sort the many boxes and bags handed in, make the shop look inviting and are friendly, which makes it so successful. This enables them to be able to help the many applicants, 19 this time. Below is the full list of the lucky recipients.
