Country Market opens its doors

Along with spring flowers and lambs in the fields, the Country Market has made its anticipated return to Rye. The Community Centre on Conduit Hill opened its doors last Friday morning, March 10, to welcome regular shoppers and new customers.

The winter closure, when the producers try out new recipes, make marmalade, create craft items, sow seeds and generally prepare for the year ahead has passed, and shoppers were met with an abundance of seasonal flowers, more marmalade than you could shake a slice of toast at, and a selection of seasonal veg (which are just starting to get going).

Our newest member, Sally, created quite a buzz with her mouth-watering range of homemade confectionery, especially the chocolates. These proved to be the most popular items of the morning and we hope that everyone will be back for more on Friday. With Mothering Sunday on the horizon, our cake and biscuit stall should not be overlooked.

Market doors open at 10am, and remember, you have to get there promptly to get the pick of the stalls! Tea, coffee and biscuits are available during the morning. The market closes at 11.30am.
