Dementia Alliance holds AGM

The problems that clubs and organisations face due to cuts in grants and funding was highlighted by Gina Sanderson from Rother Voluntary Action at the Rye and District Dementia Alliance Action group (RDDAA) AGM held at Tilling Green Community Centre on April 18. There were seven information stands and plenty of time for networking opportunities and refreshments. The second speaker was Sally English from Carers Breaks who talked about the new dementia support services that they are offering in the Eastbourne, Hastings, Rother, Hailsham and Seaford areas. This service can be contacted by calling 01323 432340 , or calling adult social care on 0345 60 80 191; email: adultsocialcare@eastsussex.gov.uk.   This service will replace the local Alzheimer’s Society Dementia advisers and support workers.
The next event that RDDAA will be hosting is a showing of My Fair Lady on May 18 at 2pm at Rye Community Centre on Conduit Hill, to celebrate the Royal Wedding, with the added fun of a Hat Competition to raise funds, refreshments charged at £3.50.
