Harvest donations

Rye Food Bank volunteers and customers are highly delighted with the huge and massively generous donations we have received from Rye College and local churches as our tables are heaving with apples, pumpkins, and green vegetables of every type, and looking like a harvest festival of our own! A very big thank you to everyone who has brought us these wonderful donations.

We are very fortunate and most grateful to enjoy fantastic support from our community. Stocks are looking more healthy at the moment as we are preparing for come what may. If there is a massive increase in demand for help over the winter months, we need to be prepared.

The supplies we are short of at the moment are sugar, fruit squash and toiletries such as shampoo and shower gel.

All donations financial or physical are gratefully received. It helps us if any food donations are made on Wednesday mornings at the rear of the Baptist Church. We can then package the produce up ready for collection on Wednesdays from 1pm.

We are open at the Baptist Hall, behind the church in Cinque Ports Street on Wednesdays from 9am. The Food Bank is open at 1pm until 3pm.

Monetary donations can be sent to the Bexhill Food Bank Rye Branch at Barclays Bank, sort code 20-54-25, account number 83501116, through the Jempson Foundation or cheques to Rye Food Bank c/o 24 North Salts, Rye. If you donate via the Jempson Foundation and are a taxpayer, gift aid can be applied, thereby increasing the value of the donation by 25% at no cost to the donor.

[Editor’s note: Someone suggested donating your winter fuel payment, if you are one of those who gets it, which sounds a good Christmassy thought as fuel bills can be the final straw which send someone to the food bank for help!]
