Garage on the move

Skinners’ garage workshop has moved from the Fishmarket Road roundabout to Rye Harbour Road. The opportunity to take over the 50,000 sq.ft. purpose-built facility previously owned by J R Motorsport Group of Daventry was too good to miss according to Gary Barlow, Skinners’ Managing Director.

“We shall have a fully equipped garage for vehicle servicing and be able to offer body shop repairs, something we couldn’t do previously. Also we were constrained by the traffic, when the exit from the workshop meant backing onto the A259 sometimes into the path of heavy goods vehicles, which often totally disregard the roundabout as they career round the bend”, he said.

The closure of the workshop will provide space for the Costcutter business to expand with an extended range of products. The company will retain the use of the carpark, currently leased from Rother District Council, for use by its retail customers. The company has already taken on five new employees and expects to employ a further five in the next six months.
