Houses on fire at Harbour

Fire engines were called to a house on Lucas Shadwell Way, Rye Harbour shortly after midnight on Friday, February 22. Four appliances from Rye, Broad Oak, Bexhill, The Ridge and Hastings were in attendance where fire had spread to an adjoining property. It took fire crews two hours to bring the fire under control with damping down and looking for hotspots. Crews used one 12m ladder, one aerial ladder platform, six breathing apparatus, two main jets and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

Rye News adds: At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown

Police would particularly like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious around the time of the fire, and from anyone in the immediate vicinity who may have CCTV cameras.
