Introducing WeComm

Finding a niche market in this day and age isn’t easy, it never was and with the internet now dominating our lives, information is available instantly, on any topic imaginable. Competition is fierce, particularly in the jobs market, it seems that gone are the days when a career was for life, the longer the list of jobs on the CV the more experience has been gained and better is the candidate’s chance of standing out from the crowd.

Ecommerce as an industry has enjoyed phenomenal growth in recent years, goods and services need to be marketed digitally to reach the required audience and this requires specialists, particularly in the fashion, luxury, beauty and retail sectors.

Enter Terry Cannon, a highly experienced and very personable entrepreneur who has just launched his new business, WeComm Limited, operating from the Brewery Yard Club in Rye. Terry saw a gap in the market and decided to break away from his corporate ties and go it alone. He’s no stranger to Rye, he and his extended family have been coming here since he was five years old, holidaying in Rye and Camber.

His parents dreamed of retiring to Rye, a dream they eventually realised, both Terry and his brother also live in Rye and therefore are on hand to give the attention required to promote the new business.

After his daily jog along Rye Harbour he now has the pleasure and opportunity to safely deliver his daughter to nursery, something he hasn’t had the opportunity to do while living previously in Crystal Palace. Family means everything to Terry, seeing his children grow up and spending quality time with them is so important to him, and with his extended family now all in easy reach he feels ‘at home’ in Rye.

We met in his plush new offices at the Brewery Yard Club just off Landgate, the new WeComm logo emblazoned above his desk, a constant reminder of why he has decided to go it alone. You can’t help but like him, his enthusiasm is infectious and he clearly loves what he does. There is no shortage of self-belief, not in an arrogant way but his confidence will open doors and I have no doubt his new venture will prove to be a great success.

His aim is to become “the UK’s leading digital recruitment agency within three years” and future expansion includes digital hubs in London, Birmingham or Manchester and in due course, Amsterdam and Dubai where he already looks after established clients. For now he is looking to build his team, 10 consultants in all, two of which are already signed up and starting after Christmas but he is looking now for potential consultants to join him, particularly from a customer services background or from the fashion and retail industry.

As full training will be provided, experience isn’t absolutely necessary. More important is the ability to think out of the box together with a sound work ethic and with a hunger for the business. As earnings are uncapped, the potential to earn a decent salary is only dependent on the ability and drive of the individual consultant.

There is also a structured career path starting as a resourcer then progressing through the ranks to assessment consultant, consultant, senior consultant, principal team leader then manager and finally, director.

If you look at his website, WeComm.co.uk you will see its not all about recruitment, Terry has chosen to support One Tree Planted, helping the environment by planting trees to restore forests, create habitat for biodiversity and make a positive social impact around the world. A percentage of each fee WeComm generates is used to purchase trees, so far this has produced over 450 trees.

You can also see more of WeComm on Linkedin or you can email directly on info@wecomm.co.uk but I have a feeling this new business will soon become well established and recognised and it’s encouraging to see yet another new business coming into Rye, despite all that is going on around us.

Rye News will follow the progress of WeComm and update our readers in due course but Terry Cannon is the real deal, he shoots from the hip, speaks as he finds and with his will, determination and business acumen should make his mark sooner rather than later. So, if you fancy a change of career and with the potential to earn what you’re worth, here’s your chance to make 2022 a year to remember, for all the right reasons.
