The Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat (PLIRB) have announced that they have received an incredible donation of £7,500 from the proceeds of the Nearly on the Beach concert that was held in August in Hastings. The leading team visited PLIRB at the Sunday training on October 12, to hand over the cheque.

The concert, a two-day free family event on the Stade at Hastings opened the Hastings Old Town Carnival Week with bands performing all weekend including the Pett Slip Buoys, Sound Syndicate, New Shoes Blues and other local bands. As well as raising money for PLIRB, the donations were shared with Hastings RNLI and Hastings Sea Cadets. All the bands, committee, staff, stewards and collectors gave their time for free. As well as collecting donations throughout the event, and all profits from the bar donated, it was possible to donate online.

Chair of PLIRB, Steve Hill said: “This incredibly generous donation from the Nearly on the Beach Concert makes a significant difference and is a real boost to our funds. The money will be shared between our ever-increasing operational costs and fundraising projects. Everyone at PLIRB is extremely grateful for their continued support.”

Jo O’Mara of PLIRB was amazed by the amount donated. “Thank you to everyone who donated and to the Beach Concert committee for continuing to support us so kindly.”
