No 50 in Cinque Ports Street is open for business. Matt Drinkwater is now flying solo and has created a new restaurant in his own inimitable style.

Monday evening was a chance to welcome some of the local business people, friends and family, and there was a real supportive buzz as the doors opened at 7pm.

Thursday evening, May 22, is the first night for diners to sample his new menu, and he will be open thereafter from Tuesday to Sunday in the evenings and at weekends for lunch. There are bound to be queues at the door of all those who have dined at Matt’s previous restaurants, but if you have not yet experienced the joy of his culinary delights, get booking and see for yourself.

A special relationship with two top chefs Matt and Chris Waddle

Matt has been bowled over by the support of and sheer hard work put in by his friends and family, especially Graham and Jenny, his mum and dad, which have enabled him to fulfil his dreams.

Annabelle and Lucy, friends of Matt, with a background in hospitality,  were warm and welcoming to his guests on Monday evening and have been working hard behind the scenes alongside others to create the face of No 50.

  1. Tling Green Centre is perhaps a ‘tad too far’, a fair old walk from the centre of Rye for meetings
Could RDC consider a closer venre in the centre such as the Community Centre?
