Moving forward with Rye News

Over recent years there has been a catastrophic down-turn in the number of regional newspapers with over 200 reported to have been closed in the last decade. The last ten years has seen the cost-effective development of websites lead to on-line hyper-local news outlets, such as Rye News, and aiming to give a wide variety of news, information and opinions.

In order to maintain our relevance to our readers we have been looking both at the service we can give as well as the geographical area we cover. In this respect, plans are well advanced to take Rye News to the next level. If you would like to get involved, support what Rye News has to offer, or just hear our plans, come and meet the team on March 12 at the Brewery Yard Club, Landgate.

After two years of restrictions on meetings it would be nice to have face to face interaction with readers and to encourage the diverse community of Rye and district to talk to one another. We are offering the opportunity to become a part of an independent community-based online newspaper and make a real difference.  If you run a business, a club, a charity, volunteer organisation or just want to see who we are, come and meet us on March 12, any time between 11am – 1pm and see how you can help us so we can help you.

Together we can make Rye News even better.
