Deadline approaches
Nominations to to fill the councillor vacancy on Rye Town Council must be in by 4pm this Friday 21 November. They need to be delivered in person to the Returning Officer, Town Hall, Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, TN39 3JX
Voting is due to take place on Thursday 18 December. More details about the election timetable are here.
Planning to meet

The town council’s Planning and Townscape Committee meets this Monday 24 November at 6.30pm. The agenda includes plans for the South Brooks solar farm on Romney Marsh.

Funding for local charities available from Ted Baker Trust
The Trustees of the Ted Baker Trust invite applications from registered charities seeking funding within the Rye and Camber area. The organisation/project should have a religious or healthcare/wellbeing purpose for which funding is being sought; or the organisation/project is located in the Rye and Camber area or benefits the people of the those communities. Lock them up
Sussex Greenways is applying for grant funding to supply free bike lockers to hotels and
guesthouses. So far ten businesses in Rye have come forward saying they are interested in the 2m x 2m x 2m lockers which don’t require planning permission.

Booking needed

The new booking system for visits to the dump starts this Monday 24 November. Rye residents will have to book either online or by phone to use the Mountfield site near Battle – or any other sites in the county.

The Chronicles of Rye

Exciting plans for a community opera called The Chronicles of Rye will be revealed next week.
It will composed by Dominique Le Gendre, whose works have been performed at the Royal Opera House, the Proms, on the BBC, at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and at Canterbury Cathedral. She’ll be working with Barefoot Opera and Rye News to create something unique.
There’s a fundraiser at The George on Wednesday 26 November at 6.45pm. Sussex-based artists will sing opera favourites including the duet from Lakmé by Delibes, Carmen’s Seguedilla with Don Jose and introduce some unusual pieces alongside two songs by Dominique Le Gendre.
