Council vacancy

Official notice of Rye Town Council vacancy

You have until Monday November 10 to request an election for the vacant post caused by the death of Cllr Jo Kirkham on Rye Town Council.

Unless 10 or more eligible electors write to the returning officer asking for an election, Rye Town Council will use its co-opting procedure to select a new councillor.

Requests for an election need to be sent by post to the returning officer Lorna Ford, Rother District Council, Town Hall, Bexhill, TN39 3JX or by emailing elections@rother.gov.uk. Full name and address should be included.

The district council estimates the cost of an election for the one councillor to be £14,000, which would be paid by Rye Town Council.

  1. The picture of the skeleton on the tractor with pumpkins then below the announcement for a councillor due to the death of Jo Kirkham. I am sure it wasn’t intended. it did amuse me.
but I do hope no one is distressed by seeing it. hopefully Jo would see the amusing coincidence.
