Rotary Ukraine collection

A great big thank you to all those who kindly donated a few pounds and pennies to our collection at the Thursday market.

Rotary raise funds for good causes both locally and internationally – 80% or more of your donations go to local charities and those in need within our local community but we also support causes around the world when needed. This year Rotary Ukraine, supported by their government, have issued an appeal to help provide emergency housing for people whose homes have been destroyed by war; specifically for the destroyed village of Moshchun, which is located north west of Kyiv.

In response to the appeal, UK Rotary clubs are working together to raise funds for emergency housing in Ukraine. The Rotary Club of Rye and Winchelsea responded to this appeal by organising the collection day at Rye market and through your generosity £500 was raised. The money will be sent via Rotary UK to join donations from clubs not just from the UK but from around the world.

The Rye & Winchelsea Rotary Club president Bill Coleman said: “It was great to see the Rye market back in full swing again with many visitors to the market and the town. The generosity of people was fantastic, and the words of support were very welcome on the hot day, enabling us to collect £500. Thank you to everyone who donated.”
