After the Christmas break and recent postponements the two teams of Icklesham Casuals returned to action on Saturday and both sides gained good victories.
The 1st team, playing their first match since December 9, reached the quarter finals of the Hastings Junior Cup with a hard-fought 3-2 win away to Sandhurst. In a typical cup-tie it was Sandhurst who twice led in the game. They went in front through James Found around the half-hour mark but the Casuals were soon level through Jack Hobden.
Craig Walsh put Sandhurst back in front in the second period. As in the first half Icklesham seemed to play their best football after falling behind and equalised after 72 minutes through Charlie Cornford. With the match looking to be heading for extra time it was Cornford who netted the winner in the final minute.
The 2nd team moved up to fourth place in Division Five and extended their unbeaten run to six matches by defeating West Hill United II 4-0 at the Recreation Ground.
Adam Knight put the side ahead mid-way through the first half but it wasn’t until just past the hour mark when Mike Beaumont added the second and gave them some breathing space. Substitute Mason Maddox made it 3-0 with Chris Osunsami completing the scoring.
This Saturday the 1st team have a very difficult challenge when they take on Crawley Devils at home in the 4th round of the Sussex Junior Cup while the 2nd team have a league match away to AFC Hollington.
