The 2nd team of Icklesham Casuals picked up another excellent point when drawing 2-2 with second-placed Hampden Park at the Recreation Ground last Saturday to extend their unbeaten run to five matches.
It was the Casuals who took the lead just after the half hour mark through Solly Cooke, but Hampden Park levelled just before the break when Eddie Dunn netted and then took the lead early in the second period through William Coles.
Icklesham came back strongly and had the chance to draw level when they were awarded a penalty, but failed to convert the spot kick. They continued to press and got the deserved equaliser with 15 minutes to go when Kieran Dighton scored.
The 1st team game against Bexhill United II was postponed due to a frozen pitch at the Polegrove.
Football takes a break now over the Christmas period with the next matches scheduled for the January 6. The 1st team lie five points clear at the top of Division Two while the 2nd team sit comfortably in mid-table in Division Five, only three points off third place. The season to date has been a very good one for the club and a vast improvement on this time last year when both sides were struggling. It is hoped the good form can continue into the new year.
Icklesham Casuals would like to wish a happy Christmas to all the readers of Rye News and thank you for following the club in 2017.
