Rye Rugby Football Club (RFC) currently field one regular men’s team and are looking to revive a social second XV in the upcoming season. The 1st XV compete in the Kent rural leagues and cup competitions.

Andy Brown sent this report of the match:

“Well, the lads did it again. 40-21 massive win against a strong Aylesford side. The forwards dominated the scrums and line out throughout the game. They set a firm platform for the back to execute some fantastic running attacks. Both our forwards and backs were solid in defence.

“The three tries that Aylesford got were from our mistakes but it is all a learning curve for being better in the future.

“Massive shout out to the support the lads got today, it makes a lot of difference to have people there shouting for their team.

“The man of the match was Pete Bicknell. Running hard, fast and solid lines, well deserved.

“A big shout out to Jacob Istead. He had a blinder. Sat their 10 down with a crunching tackle and hard running lines.

“If you fancy giving Rye RFC a go, as a new or old player, come down to the club on Thursday nights 7pm. Fun friendly(ish) joking, fitness. Oh, and a bar to have a beer.”
