Rye’s indoor cricketers became league champions after defeating Netherfield last week, after a strong performance in their final game of the season. It was overall a good batting performance by Rye with a little bit of a slow knock by the skipper Joe Lovell. James Hamilton bagged himself a quick-fire 25 runs in 3 overs, as well as Dan Seabrook firing a quick 25 in 3. Lovell managed to hit 14, then Gary Willis got 3 before being cleaned up. Lastly Ben Clifton and Spencer Fielding made good use of the running to bag themselves 23 and 11 respectively.

An interesting bowling performance by the team managed to see Rye still achieving a comfortable win with Willis, Clifton and Lovell all taking wickets. The highlight of the innings was a screamer caught by Fielding off the roof, who made it look as casual as possible.

Rye: 145-5 , Netherfield: 57-5

It has been a good first season indoors for the club and hopefully the start of many promotions as league champions.  Cheers to every player who helped out and made the games a good laugh! Well done, boys.
