Rye Lawn Tennis Club has submitted plans to expand their facilities on the Poole Field site, next to the club.
The planning application is initially for two covered padel courts and 24 new parking places with a further two new tennis courts and a small pavilion in the second phase.
The club already has two outdoor padel courts which are popular with players of all ages and abilities. The covered courts will enable all-year play and the club hope to offer expanded coaching programmes, junior and family session and social events, to attract more members.
A spokesperson for the club said, “The plans include carefully considered measures to manage noise, lighting, hours of use and traffic. We have worked closely with professional advisers to ensure the design of the Poole Field development is as sensitive as possible to its setting and we are committed to being good neighbours throughout this process.
”For these plans to be realised, the club will need to fundraise from a range of sources including from grant applications, through sponsorships, appeals for donations and fundraising events.
