Wasn’t it great to see Rye buzzing over the bank holiday weekend? Hundreds of visitors enjoying Rye jazz despite some very dodgy weather.
Whilst St Mary’s was the host to the biggest stars, all around town there was music in the pubs and bars. The outdoor stage at the Kino was packed. Free music on a bank holiday weekend. What’s not to like?
Many made a special trip for the music. For Tom and Caroline from St Albans it was their first time in Rye. “We’ve really enjoyed being here. It’s such a relaxed festival. The music’s good but we’ve also enjoyed seeing this lovely town.” Others were surprised by the festival, including Marc and Lisa on a road trip along the south coast. “Is it always like this in Rye?”
A big thank you to Ian and his team for organising, and to the dozens of volunteers making the event safe, enjoyable and loads of fun.
