Rybellion drummers outside the George

Introduced by the Ryebellion drumming group, Paul Goring, our town crier, proclaimed Sussex Day from the Town Hall on Saturday June 16.  This is the feast day of St Richard of Chichester, the patron saint of Sussex. The Sussex flag was flown and the assembled audiences vowed to look after our water borders, our environment and our neighbours, friends and other wildlife across the county. Paul toasted the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex (Prince Harry and Ms Meghan Markle), who were not present, although Prince Harry was spotted later outside Jempsons.
Ryebellion, the drumming arm of Rye and District Bonfire Society, proceeded around the town, stopping off outside various hostelries to perform. They are an impressive group. Very loud, in time and imposing.
