Too close for comfort?

Camber Road was closed yesterday morning (Friday, July 31) after Camber’s main car parks completely filled up and closed with a tailback of cars still stretching back to nearly the A259 junction at Salts Farm in East Guldeford.

At the same time Camber Sands, see top photo, overflowed with holidaymakers as they poured on to the beach faster than the tide was going out with social distancing decreasing by the minute.

However this was happening on the same day as the government announced that it had to halt the relaxation of lockdown measures as Covid-19 cases flared up again in a growing number of towns around the country and had to increase the number of situations where face coverings had to be worn. But these did not include beaches.

For more details of yesterday’s events, and others’ views, see Another test for Camber in this issue and the comments received to date.
