War memorial gains listing

The war memorial in St Mary’s churchyard, Rye was listed on December 20 by Angela Bradley, the Secretary of State  for the Department for Digital, Culture Media and Sport, writes Edmund Bird. The listing is under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 as amended for its special architectural or historic interest. See website for further details. The war memorial, one of many designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield, was erected after the end of the First World War.
