RNLI fund-raisers at Eastbourne about to board the bus for Rye Harbour

As part of the RNLI’s Mayday Appeal, a yellow welly is travelling between lifeboat stations at Portishead in Somerset to Harwich in Essex by whatever means possible in a 31 day challenge to raise funds and awareness of the charity’s latest “Respect the Water” campaign, educating swimmers to the dangers and how to look after themselves.

Last week, the Eastbourne RNLI team brought it over to Rye Harbour and presented it to Richard Tollett, Operations Manager at RNLI Rye Harbour. It now moves on to Dungeness. Rye Primary school had a fundraising event with the yellow welly and they all wore wellington boots to school and gave money for the RNLI, raising £138.00. Then the yellow welly was sent on its way by RNLI lifeboat from Rye Harbour to Dungeness.
