The incredible team behind the Rye Jazz Festival have become an integral part of our town’s cultural landscape. This vibrant event not only delights music enthusiasts but also serves as a significant economic driver for Rye and the surrounding communities.
As a Rye business owner for three years, my jazz bar benefits directly from the festival and I have witnessed first hand the positive impact it has on our community. The influx of visitors during the festival period brings a surge of business to local shops, restaurants, and accommodations, as an example, we historically generate 60% of our average monthly revenue in that one bank holiday weekend. This economic boost is undoubtedly essential for supporting independent businesses and maintaining a thriving local economy.
Beyond the economic advantages, the Rye Jazz Festival also contributes to the town’s cultural vibrancy. It attracts talented musicians from around the world, showcasing a diverse range of jazz styles and genres. This exposure to different musical cultures enriches our community and fosters a sense of creativity and appreciation for the arts.
We owe a debt of gratitude to Ian Bowden, Kate Glover, Vicki Haxton, and their dedicated team for their tireless efforts in organising this exceptional festival. Their passion for jazz music and commitment to our town are evident in the quality of the event and its lasting impact.
By supporting the Rye Jazz Festival, we are not only enjoying world-class entertainment but also contributing to the growth and prosperity of our community. We’ll look forward to next year!
