The green blob

For the last few months there’s been something in every edition of Rye News.

Not an article about the proposed Aldi.

Although…

It’s a green dot or blob. A bit like a finger print. It hovers in the bottom left of the screen. Or it does on mine anyway.

Nothing sinister. But a few people have asked about it. So worth an explanation.

It’s to do with the privacy settings and helps us work out how many readers we have (about 6,000 a week), where they are (over 90% in the UK, but a big following in the USA – and surprisingly Norway), what they read and what they don’t.

It’s a legal requirement to let you know.

All websites do it, it’s just that Rye News is probably a bit more upfront about it.
