The Senlac Classic Car Show and Craft Fayre is on Father’s Day this year, Sunday 21 June, 10am to 5pm. The show, organised by the Bexhill based Rotary Club of Senlac St Leonards, takes place at Rye Rugby Club on New Road.

Due to be opened at 11am by the Mayor of Rye, Councillor Chris Hoggart, and Rye’s Town Crier, Paul Goring, around 200 cars and 30 craft and charity stalls will be on display, along with local entertainment and, for the youngsters, children’s rides. One of the highlights will be a flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, but full details will not be known until nearer the time.

Dave Miles, the organiser for the Rotary Club said, “I’ve been organising the car show for a number of years, both at Bodiam and Rye. I get so much out of doing it, I’m working with other Rotarians and community groups and individuals, both young and less young. It’s hard work but well worth the effort when I see large, smiling crowds out enjoying themselves. All the profits are shared between local good causes and I get so much pleasure when I come to hand out the donations later in the year.”

Refreshments, including a bar, will be available throughout the day. The adult entry fee is just £5, payable at the gate. Programmes, parking and entry for accompanied children under 16 are all free.

Applications are still open to enter cars and stalls. Either see the website www.senlacstleonardsrotary.org or email senlacstleonardscarshow@gmail.com.

All profits will be shared among local good causes and charities including Rye Heritage Centre, Surviving Christmas and Senlac Rotary’s own charity, The Yellowmen.
