Crafts for all at Memorial Hall

Peasmarsh Memorial Hall, in Main Street, Peasmarsh, was the venue for the latest Hall of Crafts, held regularly throughout the year.

As it was so early in the year, there were fewer exhibitors than usual, but there were some interesting and well made articles on show, from jewellery to a variety of crafted fabric bags and pouches.

Brooches and bags on show

HJW Signs were on display and are pictured here. Made by Harry Watson, whose mother was also displaying her work, they can be manufactured for every occasion. How about Santa Stops Here? Or Reindeer Parking?

Sarah Dunstall, who also sells at Rye’s Handmade, the little shop in Market Street open on Saturdays and Thursday mornings, had jewellery and items made from recycled fabrics for sale. Gaye Watson, who makes bags and brooches, had the stall next to her.

Marion Tremlett’s fabric bags were the result of the need to replace an old washbag that had belonged to her mother. As she and her brother had retired, they set about using inspiration from visits to Disneyland, Paris amongst other places, to manufacture new ones. The feedback on their website, Hansel and Gretel Craft, is very positive “ This is just perfect” one says.

The next Hall of Crafts is on Saturday, March 16, 11am to 5pm. The Hall makes a lovely venue and tea, coffee and homemade cakes are available, too.

The Attic and Collectors Fairs are held in the same venue and the next one is Sunday ,March 17 from 10am to 2pm with regular and new sellers and a snack bar. Contact Trevor on 01797 230568 to learn more.

The programme of events in the Memorial Hall are all on their website.

  1. The Hall of Crafts is a great craft fair in a wonderful hall. Rye’s Handmade (a number of the craft fair regulars sell in the shop too) is actually in Market Road, Rye and we’re open Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm (closing at 2pm on Thursdays)
