La Maison opens on the High Street

Since its May launch La Maison dress agency has gone from strength to strength and has built up a following of keen customers. But success can bring its challenges and with the addition of soft furnishings and antiques the business has outgrown its Fishmarket Road premises in Rye. However, as anyone walking down the High Street in the past weeks can’t fail to have noticed, owner Louis Swann has secured the premises at 105 High Street and is moving the dress agency there, with a few antiques that add ambience to the premises. Soft furnishings and the majority of antiques remain where they are, albeit with more space.

Louis and manager Jean Constable were busy ferrying the clothes, accessories and attendant display props to the new shop in time for Thursday’s launch party and Friday’s official opening, while trying to avoid stepping on the busy workmen who have transformed the interior into something classy.

The business model (see the Rye News review) remains the same with customers and La Maison taking 50 per cent each of an agreed sales price. Howver, the dress shop will have new opening times of 10.30am to 6pm. Initially the shop will open on Thursday through to Monday but the plan is that by Christmas the shop will open seven days a week. For further details see La Maison’s website.
