Every year the RSPCA Bluebell Ridge Cat Rehoming Centre, off the Ridge in Hastings, has a day to raise funds. This year’s took place on Sunday, May 27, with people queuing from 10:30am for the opening at 11.
There were stalls, cakes, beverages, plants and raffles with good quality items. This was the fourth year the Rye Ukulele Experiment band has supported the RSPCA and played two 20 minutes slots which people seemed to enjoy. Luckily it was a beautiful day as everything was set up in the open.
Not to be missed of course was looking at the lovely, abandoned cats and while they are in cages, they looked content, comfortable and well cared for. No doubt some families may have been tempted to take one home. It was also good to notice that some of the money raised in previous years had been invested in better facilities for staff and visitors in terms of the cafe and better toilets. Altogether the day raised £1,595. Anyone interested in finding out next year’s date or to book a visit should go to www.bluebellridge.org.uk It is open all week between 11am- 3pm except Thursdays.
