On Friday June 27 A level students at Rye Studio School will be launching an exhibition of their Art, Textiles and Photography work with a private view from 7-9pm. The exhibition will run from June 30 to July 11, and will be open from 10am-4pm, Monday to Friday, at the Studio School, The Grove, Rye.
The Sales and Commissioning desk will be open daily, allowing visitors to purchase some of the outstanding contributions that might catch their eye and reflecting the ethos of the school, whereby specialist skills are employed to help build the student’s business acumen.
The exhibition will serve as a celebration of the work of the art, textiles and photography AS students and is the culmination of a year of creative effort, consisting of both portfolio and exam title work.
The students work has been set around three separate themes: “Mystery and Imagination” for mock examinations; “Earth, Air, Fire and Water” for final examinations and “What is drawing?” for project-based learning. Each student will showcase their work via an online gallery, with a statement to develop their own personal practice, as well as helping them on their journey to becoming professional artists.
As the students are responsible for inviting all guests, this includes welcoming all the students and staff from the Studio School and from the Rye Academy Trust, including Rye Primary and Rye College. The school’s patrons, who have supported the Studio School, the student’s employers and people from the local community will also be invited to attend their own private viewing.
The event is being organised and marketed by students through social networking sites including the Facebook page Rye Studio School Arts, through the school’s website, and by sending invitations via the old-fashioned form of post. Students are still looking for sponsorship for refreshments and for prizes to celebrate their skills and achievements. If you would like to sponsor the event please email rssarts@hotmail.com for further information.
