Take away the Kings Head

The Kings Head Inn at the top of Rye Hill has opened for takeaway on Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday lunch and I visited on Valentine’s day, when the pub was doing a special two course meal and seemed to be doing a roaring trade.

The inn is doing £10 pub classics, including fish and chips, sausage and mash, pies, burgers and pizzas and on Sunday they do a traditional roast – beef, gammon or chicken. They will deliver to addresses within Rye and people from other areas can pick up – call 01797 225962 to order. Friday and Saturday nights are 5pm-8pm, Sunday – it’s 12 midday until 4pm.

The Kings Head is looking forward to a busy summer, regulations permitting. Bookings are already flooding in for the season. There are 10 bedrooms and two self-contained lodges. It seems very likely that, assuming domestic travel is allowed, Rye will be extremely busy in the summer. If you have friends planning to visit, it might be advisable to book now. The Kings Head will refund any bookings should travel restrictions persist or recur.
