Rye Community Primary School was transformed into a celebration of stories, imagination and reading joy as pupils and staff marked World Book Day with a vibrant whole‑school parade and a day filled with literary activities.
The playground burst into colour as children arrived dressed as beloved characters from classics, modern favourites and everything in between. From wizards and woodland creatures to astronauts, detectives and fairy tale heroes, the school was “alive with characters stepping straight out of storybooks.”
The parade, held under bright spring sunshine, brought the entire school community together to honour a shared love of reading. Throughout the day, classes took part in a range of book‑themed activities designed to inspire curiosity, creativity and a deeper excitement for books.
Headteacher Fran Brassleay said, “We were absolutely blown away by the effort and imagination behind the children’s costumes. World Book Day is one of the most joyful events in our calendar, and it’s wonderful to see reading celebrated so wholeheartedly across our community.”
