Watch out, watch out, General Trundle’s about

On Saturday 15 August, Rye Bonfire boye and intrepid cyclist, Neale East aka General Trundle, will once again be donning his lycra for his now annual Tour de Romney Marsh bicycle ride which takes him from Rye to Camber, Lydd, Brookland, Appledore and back to Rye, a total of 33 miles. Unlike in the Tour de France however, there will be no yellow, pink, or white jersey… instead the traditional bonfire colours of black and red will be proudly worn!

Neale will be setting off from the Bonfire Society stall at the Tilling Green New Waves Festival about 11am, arriving back (we hope) some time later in the afternoon, having completed his lengthy circuit of Romney Marsh, at his leisure.

Last year, Neale completed the tour in 2 hours and 50 minutes, raising an amazing £700 for the Bonfire Society, which he will doubtless be hoping to better this year.

To show Neale some love, and to support this fundraising event for Rye and District Bonfire Society, you can donate on the bonfire stall, drop some cash into Adams, or click on the crowd funder link below. Let’s see if we can beat £700!

Happy pedalling, Neale!
