If anybody has been near the Rye Cricket Salts over the last few weeks you will have noticed the transformation of the ground, which has been due to the hard work of Rye Cricket Club.
The cricket square has been cut and the pre-season rolling is now well underway. Thanks to Adam Stunt, the head groundsman of Rye Tennis Club, for his work on cutting and curating the winter care of the square. Members of the club are spending hours rolling, the outfield grass is being progressively trimmed and Rye Gardening Services spent last Saturday morning rolling the outfield.

This is all in preparation for the start of the season on Saturday 18 April at 1pm when Rye host Tenterden in a friendly.
On Friday evenings at Claremont School in Bodiam, adult club members have been busy honing their bowling and batting skills in preparation for the forthcoming season.
On Thursday evenings the juniors have also been working on their skills. The hardball session is full, but we still have spaces in the softball group 6pm to 7pm at Rye Sports Centre.
On Friday evenings from 5pm to 6pm, the club has been offering fun cricket sessions for the Rye Youth Zone in the sports hall.
The club has just concluded 10 weeks of delivering cricket in PE Curriculum time at Rye Primary with years 3, 4, 5 and 6. It has been a really fun time and we are hoping that some will be joining the summer cricket offer at Rye.

Rye Cricket Club is offering two National Cricket Programmes designed to provide a way to discover and enjoy the game of cricket. These are the ALL STARS programme for 5-8 year olds and CRICKET DYNAMOS for 8-11 year olds. They will be on offer at the Rye Cricket Salts from Sunday 18 May for 8 weeks. Find out more and how to sign up for these programmes here.
All of this is only possible thanks to the generous grants, sponsorship and donations we have received. A big thank you to:
The Rye Fund
Bourne Movers
Ted Baker Trust
Derek Baldock Fund – Rye Old Scholars
Rother Community Fund.
Without this support the hard work of volunteers to deliver would not be possible.
