Our merry band of contributors at Rye News spend a lot of time and effort trying to get photographs of local events to help to keep everyone informed about what’s going on in your area.
Some of the photos may not be the best, but to a large degree we are governed by the elements and circumstances at the time but we do try hard to make the photos interesting and thought provoking but without being misleading.
Many of our readers regularly send in articles, comments and opinions but very few send in photographs, so we thought we would throw down the gauntlet and ask you to give it a go!
Most of us live with our mobile phones, most of which now have pretty decent lenses so taking a good photograph isn’t that difficult anymore. I have a battered iPhone 6 which I use for all the photos I take for Rye News and I haven’t had too many complaints so far.
So here’s the challenge, above is an example of an interesting photograph, taken this week inside All Saints Church in Lydd and while I appreciate some readers may find the subject matter a little irreverent it is still quite a poignant image, which is of the time. Face masks have after all become very much part of our everyday lives (at least for now) and someone (and I assume the church hasn’t objected) has decided to reinforce the safety message by dressing this figure appropriately.
Below is a photograph also taken this week at the same church of a banner bearing the letters OMG (oh my God), a much overused expression and set of letters which can be heard all the time, on the street, on social media, on TV and in the playground. Everyone has heard someone say it, but this photo captures it in perhaps a different way?
Photos can be of anything, we want to promote a reaction from our readers so they need to be in focus, of a subject we can publish (i.e. nothing offensive) and we must assume you give us your permission to use them. The only other stipulation is that landscape photos (wider than they are tall) are so much better to publish than portrait, so there is a much better prospect of your photo being published if it’s in a landscape format.
