Bloomin’ lovely

A poster outside Peasmarsh church invites you to an open garden at Old Winders, Barnets Hill, Peasmarsh, TN31 6YJ on Saturday and Sunday, May 21 and 22 from 10am until 4pm. A day out for all the family perhaps and at £3 per adult it’s not expensive, especially as children get free entry and I’m sure they would love to sample the tea, cakes and soft drinks available.

Old Winders sits in 2.2 acres of gardens (formally a nursery) but there is also an arboretum and a glasshouse (no stone throwing). Over the last nine years the property has undergone a substantial programme of renovation, there is off-road parking available and you can conduct your own tour of the arboretum.

The following weekend, Friday, 27 to Monday, 30 May also sees the annual Peasmarsh Church flower festival where entry is free between the hours of 10am and 5pm. This is a hugely popular event which has enjoyed considerable success over the years, – one not to be missed as it is quite a spectacle of colour and creativity. Be sure to put both events into your diary. Doesn’t it feel that we are beginning to get back to something resembling normal once again?
