The Fairlight Players upcoming play promises laughter, confusion and audience participation. Now you need a big intake of breath to announce the title of the play: “The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society’s production of A Christmas Carol”.

The play which is by David McGillivray and Waltz Zerlin Jnr is directed by Fairlight Player, Charlotte Eastes. Charlotte shared her thoughts on the play:

“To get the good people of Hastings, Rye and the surrounding area in the Christmas mood, Fairlight village hall has opened its doors to The Farndale Avenue Townswomen’s Guild (aka, the Fairlight Players) who will be presenting their rendition of A Christmas Carol. To those not accustomed to the Guild, their productions require patience and a very good sense of humour!

“Be ready for an evening’s entertainment where the cast who take their acting very seriously, have the influences of day to day life inflicted upon them – but still they manage to provide a good solid performance of this Dickens classic.

“There may be the opportunity for audience participation so don’t forget your pens.

“The cast of the show is a mixture of some familiar faces to Fairlight and some new, with Jo Dugal making her first venture onto the Fairlight boards. The cast complement each other very well and enable the show to go off without a hiccup.  Saying that, it’s hard to make a show go well, even harder to make a good show go wrong!

“Please come and join us and support the Farndale/Fairlight players bring along your sense of humour and start the Christmas spirit a bit early. Don’t forget your tinsel!”

Performances are at Fairlight Village Hall at 7:30pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday November 7, 8 and 9 plus a matinee performance on Saturday at 2:30pm.
