Smallhythe Studios is magical in many ways, from the variety of art and the level of the tuition for all ages and all abilities.

The current exhibition is called “Six of the Best”, which includes six pieces of art by each of eleven successful contemporary artists from the south east. These are Carolyn Genders, Tracey Nors, Lucia Fisher, Cyril Vickers, Mark Godwin, Karen Birchwood, Birgitta Wilson, Sue Fields, Rowena McWilliams, Claire Palastanga and Janet Keith. They include one print maker, three ceramicists and seven painters.

The work is colourful and mainly inspired by the landscape or nature that surrounds us. With some abstract and semi abstract work, it is an exhibition really worth seeing. It is on until Saturday February 25 and open from 10am to 4pm daily Tuesday-Friday and from 10am to 2pm on Saturdays.

Please have a look on the website or telephone 07905 948525 for details of the Art and writing classes such as “Writing for well being” and a drop in writers afternoon, great fun. The painters have a drop in session too plus a variety of art genres to try including photography and life drawing with accomplished tutors to get the best out of your ideas.
