A generous offer from the Occasional Consort choir to perform a charitable concert for Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital, means that an evening  of wide ranging music will be held at Winchelsea New Hall on October 8. The £15 ticket price will include canapes and a glass of wine, with all proceeds to the Hospital Trust.

The Occasional Consort, formed in 1995 by Shirley Carey, was made up mainly from members of the Hastings Philharmonic choir and former Kingsland Singers. The name “occasional” was used as initially, they met only once a  fortnight, but as the choir grew, they began to rehearse weekly. The repertoire still concentrates on early music and the Baroque period, and continues to expand and develop under the baton of Anne Whiteman.

Occasional Consort will be at Winchelsea New Hall, October 8, from 7pm to 9pm, with a break. Canapes and wine are included in ticket price.

Tickets are available by emailing fundraising@ryehospital.org.uk or telephoning 01797 23810, ask for Jo, or collect from Rye Hospital reception.
