Here’s what’s happening over the next two months, with a couple of films we hope you’ll find of interest. A future date for your diary is Wednesday, September 24 when the Film Club will again be screening some rare local films in collaboration with the Rye Arts Festival (Sept 12-28.)

Other local film clubs are closing through lack of support, please do continue to attend our showings, we would hate to have the club at risk through lack of an audience!

Friday, June 6 – A COMPLETE UNKNOWN (2024 – 141 minutes)(cert. 15)

In 1961, an unknown 19-year-old Bob Dylan arrives in New York City with his guitar, and forges relationships with musical icons on his meteoric rise to fame, culminating in a ground-breaking performance that reverberates around the world. Timothee Chalamet gives us a very credible young Dylan, already starting to set the folk world alight. Elle Fanning stars as his beautiful girlfriend Sylvie and Pete Seeger, Joan Baez and Johnny Cash feature as Dylan makes his way into the limelight.

Friday, July 4– MR. BURTON (2025 – 124 minutes)(cert. 12a)

This highly-rated film tells the story of wild schoolboy Rich Jenkins, son of a boozy
miner, and his English teacher, Philip Burton, who recognised his talent and encouraged him
to pursue his dream of being on the stage. A moving, untold story of how Rich Jenkins
became Richard Burton the biggest star Wales has ever produced. With Tony Jones, Lesley
Manville and Harry Lawtey, as the young Richard.
