Criminal damage in Rye believed to be caused by catapults is being investigated by Sussex Police. A number of windows and a door have been broken in the town centre.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police said, “The most recent incidents occurred on Cinque Ports Street between 23 and 26 May. A further incident was reported in Church Square between 30 and 31 May. Both incidents have been formally reported and officers are carrying out enquiries to identify those responsible.”
The use of catapults has also been reported elsewhere in the town.
“If anyone sees a catapult being used in a dangerous or irresponsible manner, they are urged to contact police immediately,” said the spokesperson. “Anyone who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour, has information that could assist the investigation, or has relevant CCTV or doorbell footage is asked to contact Sussex Police online at www.sussex.police.uk or call us on 101.”
