Damage to spectacles can feel little short of catastrophic in the current lockdown .
However, help is at hand. Wilson, Wilson and Hancock opticians is offering a mobile repair service.

Its outlets at Lewes, Tenterden and Rye are closed but appointments can be made for repairs at the Hastings branch. For those self-isolating or unable to travel to Hastings the optician is offering a free mobile service .

Mrs Joanne Burgess, part owner and a dispensing optician, sets out every day with a basic kit to do doorstep repairs. More serious problems she takes back to the shop, with the objective of returning the repaired spectacles the next day. She also delivers contact lenses and other basic eye related items including sunglasses which can be selected online.

Eye tests are not possible but patients can access professional attention for eye problems via WhatsApp or video link with potentially serious issues referred to hospital. Contact them via 01424 421717 or hastings@wilsonwilsonandhancock.co.uk.
