Helping hurricane victims

As Hurricane Maria continues to tear across the Caribbean, St Mary’s church will be collecting donations at all its services this coming Sunday September 24 for the victims of the earlier hurricanes in the past few weeks which have left British territories in the West Indies, many of which are very small islands, hard hit.

The retiring collections at all services will be for Shelterbox. This charity already has a team out there assessing the damage and looking at ways they can best help those who have already lost so much. If you are a UK taxpayer, using the Gift Aid envelopes will add 25% to your offering.

Shelterbox helps those made homeless by natural disasters or conflict often in the remotest parts of the world and the volunteers work alongside official organisations to meet unmet needs for shelter or tools which can provide essential services as well as shelter (Source: St Mary’s).
