Sussex Police have confirmed an illegal music show organised for the beach at Camber last weekend was prevented from taking place.

On Saturday, August 16 officers responded to reports of an unlicensed music event due to take place on the beach. A spokesperson for Sussex Police said they worked with Rother District Council to prevent disruption to the local area. “A key individual – believed to be the headline DJ – was stopped just two miles from the site and found to be driving while disqualified and uninsured. His vehicle was seized, he was reported to court, and he found himself heading home via public transport.”

Sound equipment was seized by the police and council officers.

Sussex Police explained how the event would breach local byelaws. “We understand the desire to gather and enjoy music, but events must be properly licensed and safe for everyone. Our priority is always to protect public spaces and ensure the wellbeing of the wider community.”
