Jempson’s supermarket in Rye opened on Monday 28 June with new technology to help customers – self-service tills.
The local retailer is introducing the new equipment across its sites but says it will continue to offer staffed checkouts at all stores.
The supermarket closed early on Saturday evening to allow work to take place over the weekend.
Stephen Jempson, managing director, said, “At Jempson’s we are committed to staying at the forefront of retail technology while never losing sight of what makes us special – our personal service. Self-service tills give our customers more choice and convenience, but our team will always be here to offer a warm welcome and a helping hand.”
The new technology represents significant investment in the local area, he said. “The rollout of self-service tills is part of our ongoing investment in enhancing the customer experience, ensuring we meet the needs of every shopper.”
