Rye Castle Museum held its Annual General Meeting on Thursday September 5. Jo Kirkham the chairman welcomed all, including the Mayor, Michael Boyd. Almost 40 members were present, proceedings were dealt with efficiently and there were no questions. Many members stayed for a glass of wine and convivial chat.

The newly revamped museum website is compatible with mobile devices, has lots of information and is worth a look. www.ryemuseum.co.uk.

The Museum can also be followed on social media platforms – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter

Work to enlarge the office space and make a study/research room at 3 East Street is progressing. However, due to the building work it has been necessary to close the Museum at East Street to the public on some weekends. We hope to be open at East Street during the Arts Festival and weekends up to the end of October, work and volunteers permitting.

The next talk entitled ‘Rye and Winchelsea in WWII’ on Thursday, September 19 at 7:30pm is planned to be held at East Street.

The next event after the talk will be an ‘Open Garden’ on Saturday September 21 at 11 High Street in aid of Rye Castle Museum. Teas, coffee and cakes will be on sale along with a stall selling the Museum publications. Everyone is welcome from 10:30am to 1:30pm. Thanks to Rae Festing for the use of her garden.

New members are always welcome at the Museum, details can be found on the website.
We look forward to seeing you at our next events.

  1. I see that to buy the calendar I have to go to Amazon.

Is it possible to buy it direct from Rye Museum?

With very best wishes, especially to the people I knew when I was with you, Rosalind Collier
