Undercliff crash

Sussex Police are investigating after a collision on the South Undercliff in Rye. A blue Honda Jazz, a black Nissan Qashqai and a motorbike were involved in the incident just after 6pm on Monday, May 12.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “One of the vehicles hit a parked car and then overturned in the path of the motorbike. The occupants of the vehicle suffered moderate injuries.”
Emergency services treated casualties at the scene. The A259 was closed for three hours whilst investigation work continued.
The police reference number is 1120 12/05/25.
Northiam fire

Crews from Rye and Broad Oak joined crews from across East Sussex after a large fire on Northiam Road in Staplecross. Firefighters were called out at 4:20am on Wednesday, May 7 to reports of a fire at a domestic property also affecting surrounding buildings.
Firefighters used 30 breathing apparatus, five main jets and three hose reel jets to tackle the fire, using water from fire hydrants and a water bowser. Thermal imaging cameras were also used to check for hotspots.
At the height of the incident there were eight fire engines, with crews from Broad Oak, Battle, the Ridge, Bohemia Road, Bexhill, Rye, Wadhurst, Hailsham, Eastbourne, Heathfield and Newhaven in attendance throughout the day, as well as the command unit (Bexhill), water carrier (Uckfield), dual purpose truck (Uckfield) and support from Kent Fire and Rescue Service.
There were no casualties and the cause of the fire will be investigated in due course.
Town council meets

Rye Town Council meets at the town hall this Monday, May 19. The agenda includes a discussion on affordable housing and the potential formation of a community land trust.
The meeting starts at 6:30pm and is open to the public.

Three windows were smashed on Cinque Ports Street in Rye overnight from Tuesday into Wednesday this week May 13 / 14. Police are appealing for witnesses.
The crime reference is 294 14/05/25.
